MOVIE REVIEWS: Batman: The Doom That Came to Gotham 2023 (PLEX)

This latest instalment of Batman is going back in time going as far back as 1920’s Gotham and even talks about the forefathers who started Gotham City well to me its a rehash of the Batman origin story with a small story change talking about an ancient curse that the four forefathers of Gotham unleashed not knowing and now in the 1920’s Gotham Batman and his friends have to save the day.

For an afternoon film to debrief after a busy day at work. I decided to watch the latest from the animated Batman series called Batman: The Doom That Came to Gotham. It is a long title for a less than ninety-minute adult-orientated cartoon that is PG-13 rated. I am a true Batman fan however I am not really a fan of this latest instalment.

In this story, we see Robin but not as Robin more as Dick Grayson and then we see Poison Ivy also we see Talia Al Gul as she is the person trying to trigger the resurrection of her father Ras Al Gul and well if you remember that origin story of The League of Shadows was the group Ras leads and he wants back to bring down Gotham and resurrect Gotham being born again kinda like if you have a computer virus that you cannot remove you need to format G:\ Drive Gotham and start a fresh and well this is a very gloomy cartoon without a happy ending without trying to give away the ending.

I have seen better-animated movies of Batman and although the animation was clean and smooth I just felt the story could have been better. For me, it’s a straight-to DVD or Digital media. The question would be would you watch this or even add this to your Batman collection?

The only actor that I recognise is Brian George you may remember him playing Raj’s father in The Big Bang Theory. Brian George plays the voice of Alfred in this Batman animated movie.

This a one-time watch for me, watch this with your younger kids some of the animations can be scary as it’s kind of like a scary Gargayole cartoon as well.

My Rating

Rating: 0.5 out of 5.
